CRESCENGO - The Jewels of York
Crescengo: The Jewels of York is a walking adventure you play on your phone. Commissioned by York Civic Trust, it takes players on a tour of 12 statues of the iconic tansy beetle, each representing a famous local trailblazer. Players must match the movements of the beetle by tapping on their screen and, if they’re quick enough, are rewarded with a short bio of the trailblazer and a piece of music.
The unique part of Crescengo is the mixer screen, where players can mash up the music they’ve collected, creating their own mixes of the tracks. The great thing about it is it’s really adaptable and it can be made for cities, villages, nature reserves and art galleries.
CRESCENGO only works on a mobile phone. Make sure to open this page in your mobile browser, then press the run game button above to start playing!
Troubleshooting
- If you can’t hear the music make sure your phone is not set to silent.
- To save your progress, go to the settings page and take a screenshot of your password. You can use this password to continue from where you left off the next time you play.
- If you are playing when you are in York city centre allow the game to access location services.
- If you want to play at home say 'no' to sharing your location.
- If you have any issues with location services, refresh the page.
